Our Safer Neighbourhood team in Normanton and Peartree have issued a 48-hour dispersal order for part of Derby city.
The move comes after an increase in complaints of drug-related anti-social behaviour in the area.
The order, authorised under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, is in place from 11.30am this morning (Thursday, August 16) until 11.29am om Saturday, August 18.
It gives officers the authority to ask people to leave the area if they believe them to be involved in anti-social behaviour. Refusal to leave would lead to arrest.
Sergeant Donna Abbott, who is in charge of Safer Neighbourhood policing for the area, said: “The move has been taken after an increase in reports of people causing anti-social behaviour in the area who appear to be under the influence of some kind of substance.
“Officers from the team have been trying to engage and discourage such behaviour, however we now feel it is necessary to put this order in place so that we can remove those causing the issues.
“We fully understand that are longer term issues that are causing these problems but we are determined that people living and visiting this area are not subject to such anti-social behaviour.”
The order will be subject to further review on its expiry on Saturday.
If you are affected by such behaviour in this area then you are encouraged to report it to us by:
