Pictures issued after theft in Ilkeston from elderly woman's handbag

Posted on 10th May 2017

Our officers from Ilkeston have issued pictures of two people they would like to speak to after a theft from an 81 year-old woman’s handbag.

The incident happened last month at the Aldi supermarket on Manor Road, Ilkeston at about 12.15pm on Friday, April 7.

Items were taken from the shopper’s bag that had been hooked on the end of her trolley.

Sergeant Damien Shannon, who is in charge of Safer Neighbourhood policing for the area, said: “Although this type of offence is not common we would advise that shoppers remain vigilant of their belongings particularly if they are keeping handbags on shopping trollies whilst they are shopping.

“This offence is particularly upsetting given the victims age and so I would urge anyone who has any information to contact us.”

If you recognise anyone on the pictures, please make contact PC Adam Richmond on 101 quoting reference number 17000145799. Alternatively, send him a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website here.
