Ilkeston police officer thanks public for their 'Brilliant' response for help

Posted on 31st January 2018

Yesterday (Tuesday, January 30) we asked for help from the public in identifying two people in connection with a sexual assault in Ilkeston.

The officer asking for that help has today thanked people for their ‘brilliant’ response.

The original incident happened at around 3.20pm on Thursday, January 4 when it is alleged a 17 year-old girl was sexually assaulted whilst she waited for her bus on Wharncliffe Road, Ilkeston.

PC Cat Nightingale, who is dealing with the allegation, said: “The response we had was brilliant. Within hours of the appeal we had lots of calls naming the couple on the CCTV.

“I have now spoken to both people in the pictures and have arranged to interview the man this weekend.

“The response just shows how important it is to work together with the public in cases like this and I would like to thank all those that took the time to make contact with me.”
