We are asking horse riders, joggers, cyclists and walkers who use the roads of Derbyshire to ‘save the date’ for an upcoming evening safety event.
The event is being held on Thursday, June 21, between 7pm and 9pm at Broomfield College, Broomfield Hall near Derby.
We have joined with the British Horse Society and other Vulnerable Road Users (VRU) to promote safety on our Derbyshire roads.
Kate Bowyer, Derbyshire police’s crime prevention officer, explained: “The evening will be an event aimed at any one who uses the roads in a variety of ways and will promote greater road and rider awareness.
“We are being joined by the British Horse Society who will present a range of hints and tips about safer use of the roads.
“The event has been organised after concerns raised by horse riders in South Derbyshire who were becoming concerned at several near misses when riding out on the roads near their stables. However it is not just for horse riders and there will be advice for anyone using the roads.”
