Officers in South Derbyshire step up patrols after suspicious incidents outside John Port School

Posted on 29th November 2016

Officers in Etwall, South Derbyshire are increasing patrols after a car has been seen acting suspiciously outside John Port School in the village.

The move comes after three separate reports of the driver of a silver car acting suspiciously outside the school last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The car has been seen on Main Street, Etwall at both the start and finish times of school and officers would like to speak to the driver in connection with the incidents.

Inspector Kate Bateman, who is in charge of policing in South Derbyshire, said: “The fact that we have had three similar separate reports is concerning and so we are very keen to speak to the driver of this car in connection with the incidents. Nobody has come to any harm but we would ask that parents and pupils at the school take normal precautions and remain vigilant.

“The Safer Neighbourhood team will be conducting high-visibility patrols in the area at dropping off and picking up times and we would ask that if any one has any information that they make contact with the team.”

The driver of what can only be described as a silver car is said to be a white man, aged between 20 and 30 years with balding hair.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call the Etwall, Hatton and Hilton Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101. Alternatively, send them a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website here.
