Motorists invited to number plate security event in South Derbyshire

Posted on 11th August 2014

Residents living in South Derbyshire have the chance to pick up free anti-theft number plate screws this week.

Safer South Derbyshire Partnership is joining up with local officers to offer the security screws to motorists in the Scropton area.

The screws are special ‘one way’ devices which simply replace the standard screws which are fitted to number plates to prevent it from being removed by a thief.

The simple devices are being offered to local residents to help reduce the potential of number plates being taken by offenders who may switch them onto another vehicle.

Officers from the local Hilton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team will be on hand to assist and provide further crime prevention advice to motorists.

A member of the Community Voluntary Sector (CVS) will be fitting the security screws free of charge.

The number plate event will take place on Wednesday, August 13, between 3.00 and 6.00pm at Scropton Village Hall on Main Street.

To contact your local team call 101, the non-emergency number or email south.neighbourhoods@derbyshire.pnn.police.uk
