Officers from the Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team are inviting residents to join them for a coffee to discuss policing issues.

The team is holding a ‘street-meet’ at the Sainsbury's cafe this Wednesday, October 18 and is inviting local residents to discuss any issues that they feel are affecting their community.

With the event being held in Hate-Crime Awareness Week the team will be available to speak about the issue of Hate Crime in a more relaxed setting.

Sergeant Graham Summers, who is in charge of the team, said: "We hope that by holding this event in a more informal setting it will encourage people to come and have a chat with us about what is concerning them in their communities.

"It is hate-crime awareness week and so we would particularly anyone who is experiencing such issues to come and talk to us. We will even get the drinks in."

The team will be in the cafe between 9am and 11am.
