Police in Swadlincote join forces with local partners to offer free safety event

Posted on 13th December 2017

Our officers in Swadlincote have joined forces with their local partners to offer a free safety event in the town.

The event, which is part of Operation Blitzen, aimed at reducing burglaries and thefts in the area, is being held on The Delph this Saturday, December 16, between 10am and 2pm.

PC Ben Rychwalski-Lindley, who has organised the event, said: “The policing team will be at the event along with representatives from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue, East Midlands Ambulance Service, Trident Housing and the CVS Safer Homes Team.

“Each agency will be available to give various advice and safety messages.

“We are going to be focussed on a crime prevention message as part of Operation Blitzen, to help people prevent becoming victims of crime and will have lots of advice and goods to give away.

“One of our key messages is to encourage people to come forward with information about people handling and selling stolen goods. Behind all of these stolen goods is a victim and if the market for selling stolen goods can be reduced then so will burglaries and thefts.”

If you have any information anyone handling or selling stolen goods, contact us on 101 or alternatively send us a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website HELP
