Officers from our Gresley Safer Neighbourhood Team have issued a warning after reports of children playing ‘chicken’ on a busy road in Church Gresley.

The team were made aware of reports on social media on Monday, June 18 of a small group of 13-15 year-old boys running in to the road on Brunel Way near to the Sainsbury’s on Glamorgan way.

The issue is being dealt with by PCSO Claire Robbins, who says: “We are clearly concerned if young people are running in front of moving traffic in this way.

“Not only would they be causing a danger to themselves but also to other road users who may panic and swerve or brake suddenly to avoid hitting them.

“We would ask parents in the area to speak to their children and advise them against such actions and we will be patrolling the area to try and identify those taking part in this dangerous activity.

“If anyone sees it happening we would urge that they call us at the time as well as posting it on social media sites.”

Anyone with any information should call Claire on 101, alternatively send her a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website HERE.
