Chief Constable joins Swadlincote Christmas Market Shoppers

Chief at Swad Market

Our Chief Constable joined the Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team at the towns’ Friday Christmas market.

Mr Goodman and officers from the team were speaking to shoppers about the re-launched Derbyshire alert and giving tips on how to keep safe over Christmas.

The event was held on the High Street on Friday, 21 December and they were also joined by members of Derbyshire Fire and Rescue.

Derbyshire Alert allows members of the public and businesses to register to receive information from the police and the commissioner regarding crime and information relating directly to the area where they live.

Chief Constable Peter Goodman said: “The system is an excellent tool for engaging with the public, gaining their views and opinions and building in procedures and systems to assist with tackling crime.

“Other Social Media platforms do not reach the whole of Derbyshire and there is a need to find other solutions to liaise with the public in relation to crime in their area.”
