Our officers from the Linton, Overseal and Lullington Safer Neighbourhood team have issued a warning to businesses and home owners about a spate of thefts in the Rosliston, Linton and Caldwell areas.

The warning comes after seven incidents in the last two weeks of theft of equipment such as chainsaws, gardening equipment, sit on lawn mower and pressure cleaner.

PCSO Dave McMillan, from the team, said: “ The thieves seem to be targeting small businesses, farms and out-buildings and stealing equipment.

“We have increased patrols in the area and are advising people to ensure that such buildings are secured with good locks, that equipment within the buildings is also secure and that property is marked so it can be identified if and when it is recovered from the thieves.”

Yesterday, Wednesday, June 28 the team joined Police Support Volunteers (PSVs) in visiting premises in the area to give out additional crime prevention advice.

For more advice, or if you have information about the thefts contact the team on 101 or send them a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website here.
