Our officers from the Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team in South Derbyshire are issuing a warning to motorists visiting Foremark reservoir this weekend, not to park illegally.

The warning for the bank holiday comes after residents have reported near gridlocked conditions over the last few weekends including the bank holiday earlier this month.

The problem is being caused by motorists parking cars near to the reservoir on Repton Road, Milton on a single white line.

PCSO Wallington-Waite, from the team, explained: “Foremark reservoir is a lovely place to visit especially at this time of year and becomes very popular. There are plenty of car park spaces provided, however motorists are avoiding the charge by parking on the road.

“There is a single white line to signify that parking in this location is dangerous and yet this is being ignored.

“Last bank holiday this caused a near gridlock situation that was captured by a resident. (pictured above).

“We have been issuing advisory notices and the local council have erected signs to remind motorists of their responsibility, but if the situation continues we will not hesitate to prosecute those causing a danger or obstruction.”
