Police appeal for witnesses to damaged cars in Spondon

Posted on 22nd February 2012

Police are appealing for witnesses to the criminal damage of cars parked on Dale Road and a further one in Ormskirk Rise in Spondon.

Four vehicles have had items stolen between 8.30pm on Monday February 20 and 7.30am on Tuesday February 21.

Vehicles have been entered through insecure doors or the offender has smashed a window to take items from within, including a laptop and money.

PCSO Kate Bannister from the Spondon Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We are keen to stop any further criminal damage to cars taking place, however residents can do alot to prevent these crimes in the first place.

"Make sure you have secured your vehicle, locking it everytime you leave it. Do not leave anything on display and ideally do not leave anything in the car altogether.

"Simple steps but it is surprising how many people do not take them."

Anyone with information about the damage, or any witnesses, are asked to phone Derbyshire Constabulary on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
