Jail term for man police pursued in stolen Land Rover

A man who police pursued across Derbyshire has been jailed after admitting taking a Land Rover and driving it dangerously.

He was also disqualified from driving for two years.

Johnson-Cutts took a Land Rover Defender from Spencer Street, Belper and was driving it along Main Road, Stretton at around 12.25am on December 22 when officers saw the vehicle. They suspected it may have been stolen at decided to pull the driver over.

But the 25-year-old drove off through Teversal and Pleasley before eventually stopping in a car park at Mill Street, Clowne, around 20 minutes later. During the pursuit, he reached speeds of 75mph through residential areas and mounted a grass verge in a bid to evade capture.

Johnson-Cutts, of Mount Pleasant Road, Rotherham, asked Recorder Simon Ward to take two cases of handling stolen vehicles into account when passing sentence at Derby Crown Court on Wednesday, January 25.
