Woman and her dog assaulted in Matlock

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault that took place in Matlock.
On Friday, August 3 between 2pm-2.25pm a woman was walking her brown Doberman near to the Co-op in the town centre.
Her dog started to bark and as she bent down to calm it a man standing next to her hit the dog with his walking stick. The woman challenged the man and he then hit her on the side of her face with the stick.
Anyone that may have witnessed this or has information is asked to contact PC Darren Holden at Matlock police using the non-emergency number 101.
