Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious road collision in north east Derbyshire.
At about 7.30am today, Tuesday February 21, a collision occurred on the A616 Sheffield Road near Creswell.
A black Toyota Rav 4 was travelling towards Creswell from the direction of Clowne when it was in collision with a blue Decathalon road bike.
As a result of the collision a 79-year-old man suffered a severe head injury. He was taken to Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Royal Hospital by air ambulance.
The cyclist, who lives in Sheffield, had travelled from Barlborough.
