Detectives investigating a distraction burglary in Alvaston have charged a teenager.
The 16-year-old, who lives in Derby, is due to appear before the city’s Youth Court on March 2. He remains on bail in connection with a series of other distraction burglaries in the county.
A 79-year-old woman was at her home in Matthew Street on the afternoon of Sunday, January 15 when two men knocked on her door, telling her they were from the gas board and they needed to check her meter. One offender kept the victim talking at the front of the house while the other went inside and took her handbag.
