Second arrest in distraction burglary investigation

Posted on 30th July 2012

Officers investigating a distraction burglary have arrested a second man.

The 21-year-old has been questioned by officers and released on bail pending further inquiries.

At around 2.30pm on Monday, July 9, two men visited a house in Highfield Lane, Chaddesden, and pushed past the elderly homeowner, saying they needed to use his toilet.

One of the men kept the victim talking while the other went upstairs. He came back downstairs with a metal box, which contained the victim’s cash. Both men ran from the house and got into a yellow van, driving off in the direction of Nottingham Road.

A 44-year-old man, arrested earlier in the month, remains on bail.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
