Detectives are re-appealing for information about an attempted robbery at a house in Ashbourne where the victim was tied up.

Three months have passed since the 64-year-old was threatened by three men who broke into his home and police are calling on anyone with information to come forward.

At around 9pm on Saturday, March 17 a man heard banging noises at the back of his home in Church Street. He went outside to investigate and found three men trying to break in through a window.

They threatened him and took him back into the house. They tied him up while searching the property. He managed to run off into the street and raise the alarm.

The men ran off, leaving antiques in the garden. Nothing was stolen. Two of the men were white and one was black. They all wore face coverings.

Police believe the men must have used a van or other large vehicle as they planned to transport antiques from the house.

Crimestoppers is offering a £5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the men.

Anyone with information, or anyone who saw a suspicious vehicle in the area, should call police 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
