Man arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs in Belper

Officers on patrol in Belper arrested a man in the River Gardens after they found him to be carrying small bags of suspected heroin.

A PC and PCSO from Belper Safer Neighbourhood Team were on patrol in the gardens at around 4.30pm on Monday, July 8, when they stopped a 45-year-old local man.

Around 20 bags were found in his rucksack and he was arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin with the intent to supply.

He has been questioned and released on bail while inquiries continue.
