Detectives have released CCTV footage of a robbery in Derby where a man was attacked by a cyclist.

A 39-year-old man was walking along George Street, past the Number Five bar, carrying a laptop bag when a man cycled up behind him.

The cyclist pushed the victim to the floor, jumped off his bike and tried to take the bag. The pair struggled on the floor and the victim was punched several times in the face.

The robber eventually left empty-handed, cycling up George Street toward Friar Gate.

He is described as mixed race, in his late 20s or early 30s and of average build. He is about 5ft 7ins tall and wore a dark coat with the hood up.

The bike he rode is white or cream and had some sort of parcel tape on the frame. Officers believe the bicycle could have been stolen.

The incident happened at around 12.20am on Monday, February 11.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have had a bicycle stolen that matches this description should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
