CCTV image released after pensioner robbed in Derby

Police have released CCTV following a robbery in Derby in which a 73-year-old woman was pushed to the ground.


At around 4.30pm on Thursday, November 21 the victim was walking along Empress Road towards Breedon Hill Road when a man grabbed her and pushed her over into the road.

The man grabbed the victim’s bag and ran off with it leaving the victim in the road.

The woman suffered minor injuries as a result of the fall and was helped by passing motorists.

The man was described by the victim as having a dark complexion, of medium build and height and wearing a hat and a dark jacket with a hood up.

Shortly after the robbery, just before 5pm, an attempt to withdraw money using the victim’s bank card was made at Sainsbury’s, Farm Street.

Another attempt to withdraw cash was made at the Spar, Monk Street, just after 5pm. Both attempts failed.

Officers are appealing to anyone who recognises the clothing of the man in the CCTV images or saw the man in the shop around the time of the incident to contact them.
