Walkers urged to be vigilant after man exposes himself in Swadlincote

Police are urging people to be on their guard after a man exposed himself to two young girls on a popular route for walkers.

The two 12-year-olds were walking in Midway Ponds, off Midway Road, Swadlincote, when the offender flashed at them before walking away.

He was described as white, in his late 30s, of average build and about 5ft 10ins with dark hair. He was wearing glasses, a dark hooded top and dark trousers.

The incident, which happened at about 3.50pm on Wednesday, November 13, has prompted a warning from police.

PC Leanne Bull, from Derbyshire police, said: “Although the offender did not approach the girls, the incident scared them and we want to ensure it does not happen again.

“The ponds are popular with walkers and schoolchildren use it as a short cut, so I’d urge them to avoid the area if they can and stick to main roads.

“I’d also ask that walkers remain vigilant and if they spot anyone acting suspiciously, report it to police.”

Anyone with information relating to the indecent exposure incident should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
