Witness appeal after cow is found dead in farmer's field near Ashbourne

Police are appealing for witnesses after a farmer found one of his cows dead in a field with suspected gunshot wounds.

The cow was found in a field at the farm off the B5056 in Fenny Bentley, near Ashbourne, on the morning of Saturday, November 2.

It had been attacked between 10.30pm on Friday, November 1 and about 8.30am the following morning.

Police are urging witnesses or anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
