Items stolen from child's grave in Ashbourne

Posted on 13th September 2013

Police in Ashbourne are appealing for information after ornaments were taken from a child’s grave in Ashbourne Cemetery.

The theft happened between 11am on Sunday Sept 8 and 12 noon on Tuesday Sept 10 in the cemetery on Mayfield Road in the town.

Two figures depicting fairies and one ornament of four children sitting on a log were taken from the grave.

Inspector Richard Booth said: “I’m shocked that someone would take these figures. The items are not expensive but have great sentimental value to the family. I can’t see why anyone would be so heartless as to steal them.

“If anyone has any information about this offence they should contact the police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
