Woman dies in A515 collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road collision on the A515 between Buxton and Ashbourne.

At approximately 6.45am today (Thursday April 24) a collision occurred on the A515 between Pomeroy and the road to Monyash. 

A green Jaguar, which had been travelling from the direction of Buxton, and a silver Vauxhall Corsa travelling in the opposite direction, collided head-on on the Flagg Moor stretch of the A515.  

The 45-year-old female driver of the Corsa, who is a local woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jaguar, a 55-year-old man from the Chapel-en-le-Frith area, is being treated in hospital in Stoke for serious injuries. 

The Collision Investigation Unit has started an investigation and is appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who was in the area at the time to contact them on 101.
