Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to about an assault which left the victim needing surgery.

The 24-year-old victim was walking in The Wardwick, Derby, when he was involved in a verbal argument with a small group.

He was then punched a number of times and suffered a fractured cheekbone, which needed a metal plate inserting.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

Officers now want to speak to a man seen on CCTV nearby at the time of the incident, which took place at 11pm on Monday, March 3.

Do you recognise the man in the images? Anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting crime reference 9084/14.
