Posted on 4th August 2014

Police investigating an alleged serious sexual assault in the grounds of a library have released a CCTV image of potential witnesses they want to trace.

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly attacked as she walked through an area outside Long Eaton library, in Tamworth Road, on July 6.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened between 3am and 4am.

They have now released a CCTV image of two men and a woman who were walking along Broad Street around the time of the alleged offence.

Officers want to speak to them to see if they could have information to help the inquiry.

Anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting crime reference 28140/14.

A 29-year-old man was charged with rape in connection with the incident. Jason Sedgwick, of Northcote Street, Long Eaton, appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on July 18 and was remanded in custody.
