Man dies in fall from Chesterfield car park

Police officers in Chesterfield are investigating the death of a man who fell from a car park in the town this afternoon.

Officers were called to the multi-storey car park on Beetwell Street at 9.50 this morning (Monday Aug 11) by car park staff who were concerned for the safety of the man.

Police negotiators attended and spent several hours talking to the man, who is thought to be in his 50s, but he fell from the car park at 1.40pm.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are in the process of contacting the man’s next of kin and he will not be named until a formal identification has been completed.
