Woman dies following Alvaston collision

A passenger who was seriously injured in a collision in Alvaston on Wednesday Aug 6 has died in hospital.

Gertrude Atkin (81), who lived in Alvaston, was one of the passengers in a yellow Metrocab taxi that was involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Astra on Boulton Lane at about 1.40pm.

She was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where she died on Friday Aug 8.

Seven other people were also injured.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision and are asking anyone with information to ring 101 and leave a message for PC Darren Parkin.
