Police appeal for witnesses into potential hit and run after man admits himself to hospital

Posted on 10th December 2014

Police are investigating a potential collision in which a man suffered injuries consistent with being struck by a car.

The 22-year-old man admitted himself to Ilkeston Hospital but had no memory of a collision when he arrived.

He was then taken to Royal Derby Hospital. Doctors believe that his injuries – bruising to his ribs and head – were caused by being hit by a car.

The man had been walking along Heanor Road, Ilkeston, near its junction with Shipley Common Lane. He then remembers waking up on the kerb and walking to Ilkeston Hospital.

Police investigating the incident, which happened at about 8pm on Saturday, November 29, want to hear from anyone who was driving in the area at that time.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting collision reference 10819/14.

You can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
