Footage released of theft of Poppy Appeal collection tin from Derby fast food shop

Posted on 12th December 2014

Police have released CCTV footage of two people they want to speak to about the theft of a Poppy Appeal collection box.

The box had been on a counter at the Subway fast food restaurant in The Spot, Derby, when it was stolen.

A man and a woman walked into the store and ordered food during the incident.

During the transaction, a member of staff turned her back and the man is seen taking the red tin from the counter. He then places it under his jacket and, after the pair pay for their food, he leaves the shop with the tin still concealed.

Police investigating the theft, which happened at about 5.40pm on Friday, November 7, want to speak to the people shown on CCTV in connection with the incident.

The man is white, about 5ft 8ins, of medium build and was carrying a black umbrella. The woman is white, of large build, and at the time of the incident had dyed red hair.
