A man who was jailed for assault with intent to rob has been recaptured after absconding from Sudbury open prison.

James Sheldon was one of two prisoners who left HMP Sudbury on Wednesday, November 26.

The 34-year-old was arrested in the Oakham area of Leicestershire earlier today.

Sheldon was given an indeterminate sentence in 2006 for assault with intent to rob.

The man he absconded with – 37-year-old convicted burglar Wayne Smart – was rearrested on December 9 and charged with escaping from lawful custody.
