Police in Derby are appealing for information about a disturbance on Normanton Road in the city yesterday evening.

Police were called at about 6.50pm yesterday (Monday December 29) to a report of youths fighting in the street.

One youth and a 20-year-old man were injured and the window of the bookmakers William Hill was broken.

The injured youth, who is 17-years-old and from Normanton, was taken to hospital to be treated for a puncture wound in his back.  He was detained overnight for observations.  The man, who is also from Normanton, sustained minor injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area to contact them.

Detective Sergeant Gareth Fuller said: “We know that there were a number of people in the street at the time, either on foot or in cars.  We want those people to tell us what they saw.  All information will be treated in confidence.”

Anyone with information can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
