Posted on 30th December 2014

Police are appealing for information about the theft of a Transit van and damage to property in Glossop.

Just before 1.30am on Tuesday December 23 a white Ford Transit van collided with a concrete post, fence and car at a house on Ashford Mews in Gamesley, Glossop.  The vehicle didn’t stop and was driven off along Youlgreave Crescent towards Melandra Castle Road.

Two hours later a white Transit van, stolen from outside a house on Youlgreave Crescent, was found abandoned on Hargate Hill in Glossop.  There is evidence that someone had tried to set fire to the vehicle.

Officers believe this vehicle may have been the van that collided with the property on Ashford Mews and are appealing for information about the theft, the collision or the abandoning of the vehicle.

Anyone with information should contact either PC Lisa Salt or PC Gareth Podmore on 101, quoting incident number 35/23/12/14.  Alternatively people can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
