Witness appeal following several alleged assaults in Derby city centre

Police in Derby are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the alleged report of several assaults in the city centre last weekend.

Sometime around 12.30am on Saturday, December 6, a 24-year-old man was assaulted on Victoria Street near the taxi rank.

The victim recalls being approached by two men, one of the men suddenly held his arm out and with an open palm hit him in the face.  It is believed the second man hit him on the left side of his head. The victim sustained minor injuries.

A further two separate incidents were reported in the same area, Victoria Street and The Wardwick, where the victims (both male) described being hit in exactly the same manner.

Officers are appealing for any other victims who may have been assaulted in this manner, as well as any witnesses to any of the incidents described to come forward.
