Police officers in the High Peak execute two warrants under the Firearms Act.
The warrants were carried out today (Wednesday, February 18) at an industrial unit in Doveholes and a house in Harpur Hill, Buxton.
A 21-year-old woman and a 21 year-old man have been arrested under the Firearms Act and a number of firearms and ammunition have been recovered.
Involved in the warrants were 30 officers from Derbyshire police along with detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Trident.
Derbyshire police have formed Operation Continent, a joint operation with the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Trident which was formed to tackle gun crime and the illegal importation of firearms from abroad.
Detective Inspector Shaun McElheron from Buxton CID who led the investigation said: “Derbyshire police will investigate all reports of illegally held firearms.
“Work is carried out with officers from other forces including those from the Operation Trident team.
“On this occasion a number of firearms have been recovered by police and there is no further risk to the public. This incident was not connected to terrorism."
