Posted on 28th February 2014

Police are hunting for a thief who broke into the grounds of a pub and stole items including a TV and scrap metal.

The offence took place at The Mallard, in Heanor Road, and saw a man remove a CCTV camera from the side of the pub.

He then broke into the grounds at the back of the site and searched a caravan parked there, taking a television set.

Two large bags of scrap metal that had been stored on the pub grounds were also taken by the thief, who walked back along Heanor Road towards Ilkeston carrying the two bags after the offence.

The offender, who was wearing blue jeans and a black jacket, first targeted the pub at about 4.50am on Wednesday, February 26.

He left on a pedal cycle before returning on foot at about 6.20am, after which the items were stolen.

Police are appealing for drivers or pedestrians who may have seen a man with two large bags walking along Heanor Road or nearby streets shortly after 6.45am on the date of the offence to come forward.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
