Police investigating the murder of a man in Derby are trying to trace a motorist who may have information which could help the inquiry.
Paramedics called police to Fieldsway Drive at around 6.40am on Thursday, January 9, where they were treating an injured man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has not yet been formally identified but police believe him to be a 54-year-old man who lived at Fieldsway Drive.
A post mortem examination revealed that he died as a result of head injuries. A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody being questioned.
Detectives believe the victim was attacked shortly after 12.30am on Thursday, January 9, as he returned home from work.
CCTV in the area shows two cars pulling into Fieldsway Drive at 10.52pm on Wednesday, January 8. Officers believe they have traced the driver of the first car and are now trying to trace the driver of the second car, which appears to be a small vehicle on CCTV. The driver could be a local resident, or someone visiting a friend or relative in Fieldsway Drive, but they could have information which may help officers.
