Detectives try to trace motorist who could have information about Rose Hill robbery

Police are trying to trace a motorist who may have information about a robbery in Rose Hill.

At around 10.45pm on Sunday, January 12, a 25-year-old man was walking along Charnwood Street when he was approached by a man on a bicycle who asked him for a cigarette.

The victim said he did not have a cigarette and carried on walking toward a man sat in a parked car. The driver asked the victim if he was alright. The cyclist then asked the driver for a cigarette and he handed one over.

The victim continued walking onto Swinburne Street, where the cyclist caught up with him and threatened him before taking his mobile phone and riding off toward Normanton Road.

He has described the robber as white, in his early 20s, slim and around 5ft 8ins tall. He wore a light coloured hooded top and dark jogging bottoms.

Detectives are trying to trace the motorist to see if he has any information which could help the robbery investigation.
