Witness appeal after woman is assaulted in library grounds

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman who was walking home in Long Eaton was assaulted in the grounds of a library.

The 30-year-old woman had been at Manhattan’s club in the town and was walking home along Tamworth Road.

A man who had been walking with the victim then forced her into the grounds of Long Eaton Library and assaulted her.

He was described as white and possibly in his mid-20s. The incident happened between 3am and 4am on Sunday, July 6.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the man and woman walking along Tamworth Road or the surrounding area, or who may have information on the assault.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting crime reference 28140/14.
