A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with a break-in at a social club in Derby.

Police were called to the Evington Club, in Village Street, Sinfin, at about 10.50am on Wednesday, July 16.

Officers found that a door to the venue had been forced open, triggering the alarm, and that cash and a soft drink were believed to have been stolen from inside.

Shane Thompson, of no fixed abode, was arrested outside the club on suspicion of burglary, and has now been charged.

He was due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 17.
