Man charged in connection with alleged rape in Long Eaton library grounds

A 29-year-old man has been charged in connection with an alleged rape in Long Eaton.

The incident happened outside the library in Tamworth Road between 3am and 4am on Sunday, July 6.

A 30-year-old woman had been heading along the road and had taken a short-cut through the library grounds when the alleged offence took place.

Jason Sedgwick, of Northcote Street, Long Eaton, was arrested in connection with the incident.

The 29-year-old has now been charged with rape. He appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 18 and was remanded in custody.
