Posted on 21st July 2014

Police are appealing for witnesses after two youths tried to rob a woman as she walked along a road in Sinfin.

The 73-year-old victim was walking back from Redwood Park and along The Chase when two youths overtook her.

They then stopped further ahead and parted so the woman could walk between them.

As she did, one of the offenders tried to grab a gold necklace she was wearing, but the pair left empty-handed after the victim struggled with them.

One of the offenders was white, aged 17 or 18, about 5ft 7in, with short brown hair, of thin build and pale complexion. He wore a black t-shirt and grey jogging bottoms.

The second offender, who tried to grab the necklace, was white, aged 14 or 15, about 5ft 4in, of medium build and with short brown hair. He wore black jogging bottoms and a grey t-shirt.

Police want to hear from anyone with information on the incident, which happened at about 6.15pm on Thursday, July 17.

Witnesses or anyone who recognises the description of the offenders should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting crime reference 29778/14.

You can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
