Teenager assaulted by group on Derby park

A 16-year-old girl was assaulted by a group as she tried to intervene in an argument in Derby’s Arboretum Park.

The victim stepped in after a verbal altercation started between another girl and a small group of boys and girls.

Some members of the group then assaulted the teenager, who was punched and kicked several times, suffering bruising and swelling to her eye.

She was taken to Royal Derby Hospital to be checked over after the incident, which took place between 6.30pm and 7pm on Sunday, July 13.

Anyone who witnessed the assault or might know the youths responsible should call PC Joe Murphy on 101, quoting crime reference 29270/14.
