Couple conned out of money in their own home

Posted on 31st July 2014

Police are appealing for witnesses after a couple were conned into handing over money in their home.

On Friday, July 25 at 10.45am a man visited a house on Windermere Road in Clay Cross claiming to be from the court service.

He convinced the couple that he needed to check that the cash they had in the property was not counterfeit and said he would do it for them.

The couple handed over the money that they had in the house and the man left and ran down the road. He was described as white, in his 30s with short dark wavy hair and was well spoken. He was wearing trousers and a short sleeved shirt with a lanyard around his neck.

Anyone that saw a man fitting this description in the area is asked to contact PC Mark Beer using the non-emergency number 101.

To report crime anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
