Northbound M1 remains closed following serious collision between two HGVs

The northbound carriageway of the M1 remains shut following a two-vehicle collision which left one driver seriously injured.

 

The collision happened north of junction 29A at about 3.30am and involved two heavy goods vehicles.

 

One of the drivers suffered serious injuries and was taken to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield, where he remains in a critical condition.

 

The northbound carriageway remains closed from junction 28 while an investigation is carried out and the vehicles are recovered.
