Police appeal for witnesses to trace man and woman with air rifle in Blackwell.

On Friday, May 30 at 8.35pm a man and woman was walking along a footpath that runs near to the bridge on Berristow Lane, to the rear of Maun Motors.

They saw a man and woman walking towards them. The man was described as in his 30s with a dark beard. He was wearing a camouflage jacket and had camouflage paint on his face. He was carrying a gun bag on his shoulder.

The couple asked the man why he was carrying a rifle. The woman then handed the rifle to the man and the man allegedly raised it so it was pointed at the couple.

The couple ran off towards the road. It is thought that rabbit shooting was taking place in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Sofi Essex at Ripley police station using the non-emergency number 101.

To report crime anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
