Man treated for stab wounds after assault on Long Eaton canal path

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered stab wounds in an assault on a canal path.

The 36-year-old victim was walking along the towpath between the Derby Road bridge entrance into Long Eaton and the green pedestrian bridge when he was assaulted.

He suffered one stab wound to the leg and one to the abdomen, which were not thought to be serious or life-threatening, and was treated by paramedics.

Police investigating the incident – which happened at about 3.30pm on Monday, June 23 – want to hear from anyone who might have witnessed it.
