Police appeal for witnesses to an armed robbery in Ripley.

This morning (Friday, June 27) at 9.43am a man entered Thomson travel agents on Oxford Street holding a knife and told staff to get into the back room where he stole currency from the safe.

The currency included Sterling, Euros, US Dollar, Croation Kuna, Turkish Lira, UAE Dirham, Jamaican Dollar, Norweigan Krone and travellers’ cheques.

The man left the shop and ran along High Street and headed in the direction of Wall Street.

It is believed that prior to the robbery the man may have been waiting at the top of Oxford Street for the delivery of the currency to arrive.

He was described as white, wearing a dark coloured thick hooded coat which was zipped up, jeans and a dark coloured hat.
